Overview

Psychologists, philosophers, religious scholars and people in all walks of life have puzzled over the origin of human destructiveness and evil. How is it that we persist in destructive actions and continue to engage in experiences that harm us and harm others, when the core impetus in life is so clearly aimed at survival, pleasure, well-being and wholeness? The answer to the origin of conflict, destructiveness, and evil itself lies in the powerful unseen dimension of shared experience.

We do not simply feel our own pain and suffering as we live our lives – we also become linked to the pain and suffering of others, specifically those others who are overwhelmed and cannot tolerate their own pain. It is the recurrent reverberation of these linked displaced experiences from others that cause us our most intractable and disruptive difficulties. And it is always these displaced experiences that are at the root of any instance of truly destructive behavior, as well as all cases of persistent distress and conflict (personal and interpersonal). These painful experiences are re-enactments of the unresolved distress of others.

Resolving Displaced Experiences

Valerie Rose Brinton, MA

It is through this understanding and a lengthy, rigorous course of experimentation that I arrived at the method for the resolution of these displaced experiences that I offer.

This method for the relief of persistent personal and interpersonal distress and conflict is a direct, simple, transpersonal, homeopathic, radical process of resolution which transforms the origin of the disturbance, releasing the pattern at its source.

I discovered and developed this approach through two decades of intensive depth psychological research. If you would like to read more details of this research you will find it in my published doctoral dissertation entitled “Opening Pandora's Box: A Depth Psychological Understanding of Projective Identification” which can be accessed online here or downloaded as a pdf file here.
